Dear Mill Creek Families,
“FALL INTO BOOKS!” Let’s get ready for the Mill Creek Read-a-Thon.  The ONLY fall fundraising event of the year!  The proceeds are 100% profit with nothing to sell or deliver! PTA uses the funds for instructional materials, technological equipment and playground equipment, books and much, much more.

The Read-A-Thon will be held during the school day, FRIDAY, October 31, 2008. The theme will be “FALL INTO BOOKS!”  Students are invited to wear a favorite hat and bring a pillow or stuffed animal if they wish and, of course, they should bring a favorite book or two!  They will be allowed reading times throughout the day.  The lower grades may have the teacher or a guest read aloud.  All types of reading will count. During the Read-a-Thon, the students will get to have a popcorn break.

We have set a school wide goal of $8,000. Please give what you are able. The average family donation is $20.00. There are approximately 770 students at Millcreek. Click here for a sponsor sheet for your records.  Sponsors may choose to pledge an amount per minute of reading or donate a fixed amount.  We recommend rehearsing with your child how to ask for pledges.  Students may collect donations at the time of receiving the pledge or after they complete their reading. We are allowing a buy-out option this year of $20.00. Years past, students have read an average of 180 minutes.  They should keep the sponsor sheet at home until the Read-A-Thon is completed on October 31st.  Please return these by Friday, November 7th.  Please make checks payable to Mill Creek PTA.
